CODE OF CONDUCT

All members and guests are held to the Code of Conduct to ensure the best possible training environment for everyone. Please note that adherence to the code is part of your membership agreement.

HEALTH

If you know you are ill or are feeling unwell (e.g. COVID-19, flu, etc), kindly do not attend classes or visit the gym.

If you have a confirmed or potential ailment (e.g. conjunctivitis, staph infection, etc), kindly do not attend classes or visit the gym.

Should you accidentally receive a small wound during training (e.g. nose bleed, split lip), please approach the instructor for assistance in disinfecting and covering the wound. Kindly do not use gym equipment on the affected area if exposed (e.g. shin guard on a bloody scratch).

Do practise good personal hygiene. Examples include

(a) using deodorant (thank you!)

(b) ensuring nails are clean and not claw-like

(c) keeping a small towel at hand to wipe away perspiration

(d) washing your hands after using the restroom

(e) covering your mouth when sneezing/coughing and sanitising your hands after.

SAFETY

Always keep your personal information, especially emergency contact details, up to date with Fight Academy.

Please make sure that any injury or chronic condition, both old and newly occurring, has been declared.

Be mindful of safety for yourself and others when training; do not let your temper or ego get the better of you.

When working with others, wear protective gear where needed and learn to “mark” your attacks. Not wearing the proper equipment when instructed is strictly at your own risk.

If you are suffering from an injury, please do not participate in classes or use the gym. Let us know via phone/email and we will freeze your membership for the period of your recovery (supporting documentation will be required).

Should you feel dizzy, breathless, or uncomfortable in any way whilst training, please stop and notify the coach or staff.

Kindly remain aware of your surroundings and stay away from the mirrors, walls, and furniture whilst training. You will be held responsible for damage maintained to gym property if it is caused by improper training procedure.

ATTITUDE

All individuals must conduct themselves in a manner that does not disturb the enjoyment of the gym and its services for others.

Any misconduct, including rude/abusive/indecent/disruptive behaviour, towards other members or staff is strictly prohibited. If you display such behaviour, you will be asked to leave immediately.

Sexual harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to, lingering stares, lewd comments, invasion of personal space, as well as unwarranted physical contact.

We reserve the right to refuse admission/service to any member/non-member at the discretion of on-duty staff.

Do ask questions, but respect your coaches’ expertise. They know what they’re doing… and you really don’t want to mess with them.

Please wear appropriate training attire specific to each class. Examples include:

  • do not wear shoes on the matted training areas (training shoes, such as for wrestling, are allowed)

  • wear tops with adequate coverage (close contact techniques can be uncomfortable enough)

  • no short shorts without tights (kicks should not involve indecent exposure)

ENVIRONMENT

Please treat equipment with respect, and put equipment away in the designated areas after use. DO NOT RE-SHELVE USED GEAR!

No food and drinks (other than water) on premises. Unless you like training with ants and cockroaches.

Do not hog space or equipment. We’re not in kindergarten; you should know how to take turns and share with others by now.

Do not take gym property off premises without permission from our Instructors.

Please do not leave your stuff behind in the gym. We reserve the right to throw it out.
